hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are blood vessels around the anus and in the rectum which help in the process of stool’s exit during defecation. They become pathological when swollen or inflamed due to an increased pressure in the veins. This situation is known as hemorrhoidal disease.

Hemorrhoidal disease can occur at any age but it appears more often after the age of thirty.

Hemorrhoids are not tumors. Their cause likes to them of varicose veins.

There are three types of hemorrhoids according to location and degree of severity.

  • External: they develop below the anorectal line and cause painful swelling if they become full of blood clots
  • Internal: they develop above the anorectal line. They are usually painless.
  • Prolapsed: they are internal hemorrhoids so enlarged that collapse and protrude outside the anus. They bleed and are extremely painful
